Anna started her journey in Early Childhood Education in 1998 and has experience in a wide variety of roles in the field. She strives to provide a fun, welcoming and safe environment, full of rich learning experiences, where children will feel comfortable to express themselves, socialize with their peers, and learn through play. She enjoys going on nature walks, long bike rides, listening to all kinds of music, singing, and camping, When she is not at preschool, Anna looks forward to spending time with her husband and their two teenage daughters.
Carmen has been an Early Childhood Educator for over 20 years. She loves being creative as well as providing a variety of art and music experiences for young children. Carmen’s hobbies include reading, biking, travelling, decorating, and enjoying food from different countries.
Erin graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Douglas College in 2017 and holds a Early Childhood Education certificate. She began working in childcare over 7 yeas ago, in a wide variety of roles. Working with children and families has always been a passion of hers – especially in Early Childhood Education. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their dog. She also loves to fill her free time with crafting and baking. Erin is very excited to be a part of the Early Learning team at Thompson Community Centre!
Ivy was born and raised in Guang Zhou, China. After immigrating, she was introduced to Early Childhood Education. She gained diverse experience through working with children in different child care settings. She thoroughly enjoys her time with children and is also very excited to use her varied experience to cater to their individual needs. Ivy says the best thing about teaching is being able to experience and witness kids meeting their goals…when something clicks, it is MAGIC!
Julie is an Early Childhood Educator and has been in the field for over 13 years. She enjoys making felt stories, drawing and illustrating, and enjoys being creative in all ways to share a story. If she is not busy creating something, you can find Julie and her family outside soaking up the sun and fresh air. You’ll likely find her at Spanish Banks or Second Beach exploring or playing.
Joey holds an ECE Assistant certificate and is currently studying towards receiving her Early Childhood Education diploma. During her free time, she enjoys photography, exploring new places, and jamming to tunes on her ukulele. She loves implementing creative aspects in the classroom through imaginative play, music and dance, as well as fun arts and crafts activities. Joey believes that everyone is an artist, and that it’s never too early or late to start!
Maria is a pediatrician by training and was a stay-at-home mom for many years raising her two boys. She is excited to be back working with children and especially enjoys working with children who require extra support.
Melanie was born and raised here in Richmond! She is a soccer mom of three: Two sons and one daughter. She has had the opportunity to work in many other Richmond Community Centres throughout her many years as an Early Childhood Educator and is currently working towards collecting professional development hours for recertification as an ECE. Melanie is excited to be back working at Thompson this year!
Patricia has a Psychology degree from UBC, obtained her diploma in Early Childhood Education from Langara and has worked as a preschool teacher since 2013. In the last few years, she has also successfully obtained her post basic licenses to work with infants, toddler and children with special needs. She takes pride in being able to create a safe and nurturing environment that allows children to develop holistically. During her free time, Patricia loves to travel in order to learn about other cultures and most importantly, try their local cuisine!
Sam is a graduate from Langara College and received her Early Childhood Education Diploma in 2017, as well as her citation in Special Education. When she’s not at work or busy with her studies, she enjoys going for walks in the sunshine, spending time at the gym, and hanging out with her friends and family. Sam has always had a passion for working with children, and is amazed by the development and progression that takes place during the early years.
Samara is an Early Childhood Educator and has over 20 years experience in the field. She has enjoyed working in various programs over the years, including childcare, preschool, special needs support, and as a mom of three. She is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment, filled with engaging learning experiences. Samara is born and raised in beautiful British Columbia and has called Richmond home for many years. She loves exploring in nature, the beach, long walks, and spending time with family.
Tomi has been a part of the Thompson Community Association family for a number of years in a variety of capacities, including as an instructor in “Time for Fun,” “Active Start,” “Paint and Play” programs, as a volunteer in our Summer Preschool Camps, and as a preschool mom. Tomi has worked as an assistant, holds an ECEA certificate and recently joined the Thompson Early Learning teaching team in September 2018. She enjoys working with children and learning from them. Tomi is a mother of five who likes shopping, cooking and drinking bubble tea.
