Licensed Preschool Camps

• Eligibility:  2019 & 2020 birth year. Participants must be min 3 yrs and a max 4 yrs, 11 mo on Dec 31, 2022. 
• Location:  This camp runs in the Preschool Outdoor Classroom (playground) and in the Rompers Room classroom.
• Duration:  This camp runs for a total of 4 hours per day (9am-1pm).  As per the Child Care licensing requirement, 
• Location:  This camp runs in the preschool outdoor classroom (a.k.a playground) RAIN OR SHINE for a minimum 1.5 hour, followed by indoor learning and nutritional breaks in one of the preschool classrooms.  NOTE:  Outdoor time will likely be longer during summer camp (and sometimes run outside for the full duration of camp, weather permitting).
• Nutritional breaks:
  • Snack:  Open snack will take place at approximately at 10:30am.  Children will be encouraged eat at snack time, but they will not be forced to eat, nor finish all their food.
  • Lunch:  Lunch time will take place at approximately 12:30pm.  All students and educators eat lunch together.
• Allergies:  If your child has a life threatening allergy, please advise ASAP.  A form called "Allergy Emergency Action Plan" must be completed.  If administration of medication is required, a "Permission to Administer Medication" form must be completed. 
• Washroom:  Please take your child to the washroom before bringing them to camp.  There are washrooms located the main community centre building and in the preschool annex building for your convenience.  Teachers will also escort children to the washroom whenever needed.  Participants should either be fully potty trained or at the very least in pull-ups. 
• Photos: Some families have indicated that they do not wish for their child to be photographed and/or videotaped. Therefore, please refrain from taking photos or video of your child as they play with other children during the program. Please visit our social media sites to view a weekly synopsis of some of the activities.

What to WEAR at camp:

• Children should be dressed in comfortable weather-appropriate      clothing for outdoor play:  bring a light jacket and hat.
• Children should be dressed in comfortable clothing that is appropriate for messy play (e.g. paint, sensory activities).
• Outdoor shoes: running shoes or rain boots (no open-toe or open heel footwear or sandals permitted)
• Indoor shoes:  running shoes

What to BRING to camp each day: 

• Small backpack with a change of clothing (in case clothing gets wet from water play or dirty from art/sensory/mud play).
• Indoor shoes (e.g. running shoes; no open-toe footwear or sandals permitted)
• A small, nutritious, nut-free snack in reusable container.
• A small, nutritious, nut-free, non-microwavable lunch in a reusable      container.
• A reusable water bottle filled with water (no fruit juices nor other beverages please).
• Sunscreen. 
• Important:  Please remember to label all of your child's personal items.

Requirements prior to camp:  

• Prior to attending, Parents/legal guardians must complete the Informed Consent and Permission Form  (please see below)
• Please email completed form and a recent photograph of your child to the preschool coordinator at athymis@richmond.ca (or thompson@richmond.ca) minimum ONE WEEK prior to the start of your child’s FIRST day of camp, in order to allow our team time review your submitted information.  Children will not be permitted in the program until these are received.  
• Upon receipt of your email with the above-mentioned documents, our coordinator will send you an email confirmation and further detailed information on our preschool camp .  
• Note:  If a child is registered in multiple weeks, only one consent form and one picture is required, and must be submitted via email minimum one week prior to the start of the first week in which the child is registered
